Land Acknowledgment Statement

As I continue to grow in my understanding and living of Social Justice Values, I am looking for additional ways to create change, disrupt oppressive systems, and open spaces to feel, learn, and grow as a person. Land Acknowledgment Statements are formal statements of recognition of the people, Nations, and Tribes that took care of the land that is now known as the United States of America. The purpose of a Land Acknowledgment Statement is to bring awareness of the violence and cultural genocide that white people used to take control of resources, people, and land for their own uses, and to show respect to the peoples who once thrived from coast to coast.
