Rebuild Trust, Connection, and Accountability.
Relationships become strained for many reasons and in many ways. Sometimes problems build up slowly over time without any one thing to pinpoint as to where it all started. Other times there are incidents of mistrust, invalidation, or betrayal that force us to re-evaluate our relationships.
I believe there is a subtle, yet critical, difference between blame and accountability. We feel blame when someone else releases their anger on us with the intent to change our actions. Accountability, on the other hand, comes from within, when you want to change your own actions because of your own motivations. During relational therapy I encourage partners to hold themselves accountable to the kind of partner they want to be, rather than blaming their partner(s).
I consistently seek out training and learning opportunities to work with polyamorous relationships. I have taken steps to reduce unintentional microaggressions in my sessions and intake paperwork.
My training at a Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) approved program helps me to obtain a professional opinion to help you have a better understanding of the problem influencing your relationship. Then I help you learn skills and strategies to help you distance your relationship from the problem.
I look forward to working with you.
